Dione McKenna
Hello agus fáilte!
I’m Dione, an Irish wildlife and landscape artist, living in Kent.
Art has been part of every stage of my life, the thread running through a career in publishing and my own design businesses. In 2018, I took the decision to pursue my art practice professionally. Since then I’ve focused on growing my commissioned work and exhibiting at open studio events and local galleries.
With a degree in Natural Science, Zoology, my inspiration for painting is a lifelong love of animals and concern about environmental issues.
I’m interested in native wildlife, especially birds, and
enjoy the challenge of capturing their energy and individuality. I’m a Member of The Association of Animal Artists and a Supplier to The National Trust.
Always drawn to light and shadow – bluebells glowing in the cool light of a wood or a young deer in August sunshine – I try to capture these moments through the gorgeous, colour-rich medium of oil paint.
